Neil Giles

I am a contemporary artist based in Suffolk. 

I studied Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins and work as a Creative Director in the retail brand and design sector advising clients around the world. I began painting and exhibiting my work in 2015.

In my work, I explore free-ranging themes and methods of expression. Dispensing with formal rules and embracing a graphic, sometimes naive, expressive drawing style to create compositions drawn from experiences and memories. My subjects range from landscape, imagined figures and characters, to still life works drawn from my collection of contemporary ceramics.

I work mainly in oils and acrylics, with an emphasis on the tactile, textural expression which connects seemingly disparate pieces.

I currently have work placed with Catharine Miller at the Hollywood Road Gallery in London and Catesbys in the Cotswolds. In addition, I show work at local shows throughout the year.
